SALVES
Most of my products will start as a salve. Happy Feet and Put Out the Fire both began as a salve. Salves will treat burns, rashes, eczema, sore muscles, bites, wounds, pain, muscle strains, etc.
I will usually start with either Coconut Oil, Shea Butter, or Beeswax, then add the herbs and oils as I go to get the desired results.
Use a double boil pot or a slow cooker, fondue pot if you have one, otherwise make sure that you control the heat, as too much will destroy the products potency.
Here is a wonderful lip balm that you can use on dry cracked elbows, heels, cuticles or knuckles.
Organic Salve for what ails ya'
Put in the pan about a 1/4 of a cup of Beeswax
Add 1/8 cup of Shea Butter (coco butter, mango butter can be substitutes)
3-5 drops of essential oil of your choice
2 tsp of Castor Oil
Let heat on low for about 12 minutes.
Pull off the stove, pour into a container that you plan to apply with, or in a jar with a lid that you can use your finger to dip into. (Be aware of all the nasties that are on your fingertips and under your nails, dipping into something like this could cause an infection from your dirty skin / nails. I have used Lemon, Lemongrass, Tangerine, Frankincense, Tea Tree, Sweet Orange, and Bergamot oils for my lip balms. I have added Aloe Vera and Vitamin E on occasions too.
